The Sparkling Tour:
The Sparkle 700 power supply does not come with any new additions to a standard power supply package. Included is the Action 700 power supply, a User’s Manual, a standard power cord, two loose Velcro cable management ties, along with one holding the power leads in a bundle, and four mounting screws.

On the bottom of the Action 700 power supply is a 120mm intake/exhaust fan. This fan is near silent and black to match the unit’s semi-gloss black power coat finish. The fan grill features a gold anodized color and the back of the unit features a honeycomb mesh grill. If you haven’t already noticed, this 700w power supply features a short, standard ATX, form factor meaning that it will fit into any ATX case.

At the back you find the honeycomb grill, power jack, and power switch. The left side of the unit (facing any windows) features the SPI specification label. I really wish manufacturers would place this on the other side of the unit like was seen in our last power supply review of the Tagan ITZ 1300w PSU.

The front of the unit has only three small ventilation slits near the power lead pass-through. The pass-through features a plastic collar to prevent cutting of the leads. From this angle you can see that all the power leads are meshed in black.

As you can see with all the power leads spread out, any mid-tower case and most full tower cases will be no problem with the Action 700 power supply. When installed in a mid-tower case, it becomes evident that cable management will be a chore as there is no modularization implemented in this PSU. I would have loved to see Sparkle come out the retail shoot with a modular power supply, but they instead chose to still to their OEM guns.

The Sparkle Action 700 comes with the standard 20+4-pin motherboard power lead along with dual 4-pin CPU leads. Six standard 4-pin Molex connectors and two 4-pin mini-Molex connectors are found on two leads along with six SATA power connections found on two additional leads.

The Molex connectors feature easy to use grips which also aid in the removal of the connectors. With this power supply weighing in at 700 watts, you would expect a couple PCIE power leads. Well Sparkle did it right and the Action 700 features two 6+2-pin PCIE power leads. This enables you to utilize two ‘last-gen’ video cards or a single ‘new-gen’ card.
