For you pleasure, we have included some comparison shots of the Netgear WN511T versus the previous generation WG511. Also included are comparison shots of the Netgear WNR534M and the previous generation WGR614 wireless router and FS608 switch.
Installation:
Installation of the Netgear WN511T was very simple. First thing you do is install the Netgear Wireless Utility. This installs the Netgear driver for Windows along with a wireless application that reminds me of NetStumbler mashed up with Windows Wireless Manager. In the past generations of wireless PCMCIA cards from Netgear, you were able to bypass the Netgear Wireless Manager and simply use the driver along with the Windows Wireless Manager. I found that using this combination without the Netgear software seemed unreliable and connections were much more stable with the application running. Also to point out that the Wireless N products from Netgear feature the ability to use WEP2-PSK or a combination of WPA-PSK and WPA2-PSK. Windows Wireless Manager has issues with WPA2 (my experiences) and the Netgear application takes these combinations without a flinch.
