Included with the A.C. Ryan AluBoxDuo LAN is a Driver and Software Disc, a User’s Manual, 1.5m Ethernet (CAT-5) cable, 1m USB2.0 cable, two sets of four hard disk mounting screws, the AluBoxDuo LAN enclosure, power brick and plug.

When A.C. Ryan sent us this sample for review, they accidentally provided a European version of the packaging. This meant that we received the European version of the power brick’s plug-in cable. A quick email to A.C. Ryan and we had a new English style cable shipped to us within days!

The User’s Manual is pretty straight forward, well written and features colored screenshots to help you along. While I would have liked to have seen the included Ethernet and USB cables at a longer 2m length (for cases located under a desk), the cables were well built and we had no problems with them.

The AluBoxDuo LAN much bigger than your standard 3.5” hard disk enclosure. This is due to the ability to fit two 3.5” drives into one enclosure. The external enclosure features a single piece aluminum housing with plastic end caps. The internal drive cage is made of standard steel materials. In these pictures you can see the little plastic feet which allow for this series of drive enclosures to be stacked on top of each other to minimize their desktop footprint.

The housing features a thick 1.8mm aluminum that has been ribbed for style and painted glossy black to impress. The side features the A.C. Ryan logo while the opposite features your reflection.

At the back of the enclosure you will find two screws for drive removal, a USB2.0 plug, a 10mb Ethernet jack, power plug, power switch and mini-fan. The front of the AluBoxDuo LAN is a smooth surface with three (LED illuminated) status lines in the middle. Standard shipping also applies a plastic film over the face to protect it during handling.
