Comparison:
For those that read my reviews, you know I can’t resist a comparison page! So to not disappoint the fans, here you go!
The On Screen Display was very nice and not blocky like some other monitors out there. The ‘AUTO’ button gives you a quick selection between five preset color schemes: User, Text, Standard, Graphics and Movie. These all give you different brightness and contrast variations. I found through my testing that just setting this feature to User and setting my own combinations, I found more satisfaction out of my screen.
The second OSD is the meat of the controls. Here you can adjust just about everything though the contrast ratio doesn’t help you feel that way…
Installing the Acer AL2216W LCD monitor was a breeze and worked right away with no frozen or dead pixels. The panel was sharp and crisp. Windows XP found that the monitor required a driver upon first boot and with a quick online update, the monitor was installed. We did not experience any graininess that we had seen on the previous HP LCD monitor.
As you can see below, there is a certain amount of backlight bleed through. This is not noticeable during normal use unless you normally sit and watch a black screen all the time. While the bleed through is there, I don’t see the average user caring all that much. For those of use that even a speck of dust bothers, then you will definitely be deterred by this.
