Results and Conclusion:

For testing of the RaptoxX RT-750 and RT-1000 power supplies, the following hardware was used:

CPU: AMD Quad Core Phenom @ 2.6ghz
Motherboard: Asus M3A32-MVP Socket AM2+
Memory: 2gig (2 x 1gig) Corsair Dominator PC2-8500
Video: Apollo Radeon HD 3850 512MB DDR3
Hard Drives: 2 x Western Digital 2500YS RE in RAID0
Optical: Plextor PX-740UF PATA

Installation of both RaptoxX power supplies was as easy as any other PSU. Simply mount the unit with the four included screws, plug in all the necessary power leads and you’re on your way. With that said, plugging in the RT-750 to a PSU tester with nothing else attached, the unit displayed a power consumption of only 5 watts! During testing, at idle, the unit displayed 142 watts being consumed. During load of 3dMark06, the unit displayed 165 watts being consumed.

Over all the Exxtreme series of power supplies from RaptoxX has proven to be a stable and reliable product. It is not surprising to see the RT-750 rate lower than the RT-1000 given the lower wattage rating, but I was surprised to see the weakness of the 12v rails on the RT-750. The RT-750 (looking back to the specifications) only has three rails and each vary on their numbers. The RT-1000 has a much stronger rail system featuring four 12v rails and each have plenty of amperage.

With the RT-1000’s four strong 12v rails, 80%+ efficiency during load, active PFC, modular cables and silent operation; I am more than happy to award a Kickass rating to this RaptoxX power supply. The RT-750’s standard size, Blue LED illumination, modular design and silent operation make it a great contender in the mid-level power supply market. The weaker 12v rails detract from this unit’s potential and I can only afford to give the RaptoxX RT-750 a Great rating as it would be more than sufficient for most average builds that do not include very high end CPU’s and GPU’s.

RaptoxX has really impressed me with their build quality and features in their products. The “Power Watcher” is an excellent feature and I was heartbroken not to see it on their RT-1000 unit. The Blue power button of the RT-1000 is very sexy and a green variant on the RT-750 would have been the icing on the RT-750 cake. On that note, a power button in the shape of their “eye” logo would be even more kickass! Over all, we were very happy with our time with the RaptoxX products and we would like to send our thanks to RaptoxX for their supply of these review samples and their support of 3dGameMan.com!
