The PSU:
The Tagan BZ 1100watt power supply comes wrapped in a cloth baggy. This is a very nice touch and screams ‘quality.’ This also helps avoid scratches to the finish if installed in a windowed case. Though the Tagan BZ series power supplies are mostly modular, like many others Tagan has chosen to hardwire the main power headers. These include the 20+4-pin motherboard header, a couple 6-pin 12v headers, an 8-pin 12v header, a 4-pin 12v header, a 4-pin Molex header and a grounding wire.

Within the cloth baggy, you will find yet another wall of protection in the form of bubble wrap around the Tagan power supply. With the power supply finally unshielded we can see it in all its black glory. From the top you can see that this Tagan power supply features, like all Tagan power supplies, the A.B.S. Certified logo on the fan grill. The fan by the way is an odd size at 135mm and included Blue LED illumination.

On the side is the standard power rating sticker. This, I was happy to see was on the right hand side of the power supply and out of site of windowed cases as the left hand side features a beautiful black and silver PSU badge. Looking at the power label, the first thing that jumped out at me was the total of six 12v rails at 20 amps a piece! On Tagan’s website they mention a “Turbo Mode” to which all six rails can auto-magically be converted into a single beady 12v rail. This unit continues to impress me!

At the front of the Tagan BZ series power supplies you will find that they have went the way of many others and included round modular power connections for the included cables. Just like the Kingwin Mach 1 power supply we reviewed, each power channel has colored rings that light up when they are connected and functioning properly. The back of the Tagan PSU features a honeycomb mesh, power connection and rubber protected power switch. That’s it. No voltage selection, not variable speed fan selector; simple and clean.
