"Ubisoft announced yesterday that it has purchased the perpetual rights to Tom Clancy's media empire, including videogame, film, and book options on the famed military author's future works. Previously, Ubisoft had made royalty payments for the use of the Clancy license, which is most notably associated with the publisher's Rainbow Six, Ghost Recon, and Splinter Cell franchises, but the acquisition gives Ubisoft use of the license without additional fees." ~1up.com
