For testing this product, I used a Sony W580i | BUY
Since it's Bluetooth™ 2.0 + Enhanced Data Rate (EDR) I was expecting this headset to perform really well and I wasn't disappointed. Be aware that many headsets still use bluetooth 1.2 which is inferior. I found that the rated 10m or 30 feet is accurate. Although I found it was best just a few feet away which is common for this type of product. What this range distance will do is let you walk around a fairly large room without losing signal. This really gives you a lot of freedom because the phone can be in one location and you don't have to worry about running to the phone to answer a call. It's also very handy in the vehicle or if you have kids. It's simply fantastic in any situation where you need your hands to do other tasks (get your minds out of the gutter). NOTE: While the range is good don't expect to leave your phone in one location and take a walk around the block, this is not what bluetooth devices are all about.
Talk time I found really good and never had the battery die on me. Although what I do is charge the headset when I charge my phone. That way I know both are fully charged and I don't have to worry about batteries failing. I'm fairly religious about charging stuff though, so this is not a problem for me. Now my wife, well that's another story ;) (I hope no women are reading this review, otherwise I could be in big trouble).
Reception is really good as well. I did find though that I needed to max the volume in most environments. Although I'm using the phone when I'm on the go and usually that's in louder surroundings then my home/office. If your 're in a really quiet environment though you would be able to lower headset volume. The microphone is also very sensitive and people will not have any problem hearing what you are saying.
