A closer look:

This metal pen-sized thermometer is silver in color and comes with an attached keychain and hook. At this end the two 1.5V LR44 batteries can be installed by first unscrewing the end cap. This end cap has a rubber seal to prevent any liquid from entering the chamber. While this insures water resistance, it's not waterproof, so I wouldn't recommend submerging this product into water.

On the the left end is the sensor cap which covers the thermopile sensor and simply snaps off and on. The middle portion has an LED readout which shows the temperature in
Fahrenheit or Celsius and battery life indicator. Next to the LED is a small rubber button which is pressed in order to take a reading.

On the opposite side is the ThermoHAWK 200 branding and a small hole which is how Fahrenheit or Celsius is selected. To do so, first turn the unit on and just insert a small pin or paper clip.
