Page 4 of 6 A Closer Look & Use - The Mouse: Taking a look at the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000, you can see that it is pretty comfortable looking. The mouse features an ergonomic design that benefits a right-handed user. Sadly, there is no option here for left-handed users. The body of the mouse comes with styling from the Microsoft IntelliMouse Explorer. There is a slight tilt to the right with a large dome for the palm of your hand. If you are like me and have larger, meatier, hands, you might find that your finger tips spend more time on the mouse than the rest of your hand. There are two thumb buttons that are programmed by default as 'Forward' and 'Back'. I did find that the 'Forward' button did not work when using Windows Explorer, but like the keyboard, all functionality can be changed up with the provided software.
Below you can see the size of the Microsoft Wireless Laser Mouse 6000 compared to my old Logitech MX700. You can see that the Microsoft mouse is a bit wider and a tad shorter than the Logitech mouse. Though I did not get a picture of it, the Microsoft mouse is also a bit taller at its highest point than the Logitech MX700.
One feature of this Microsoft series of mice is the integrated 'Tilt-Wheel' technology. All this does is allow for two more mouse buttons triggered by tilting the scroll wheel of the mouse left or right. This can be very useful when used as a 'Page Back' or 'Page Forward' when browsing or as a side scrolling feature. I found that using the 'Tilt-Wheel' did in fact, when surfing the Internet, seem more natural than using the thumb buttons as they are placed a bit high on the mouse.
![]() On the underside of the wireless mouse you will find the four standard plastic feet that you see on all Microsoft mice. There is a battery compartment for two of the supplied Energizer AA batteries, and the heart of the mouse, the laser 'eye'.
