A Closer Look:

Once I pulled the cooler out of the packaging, I was instantly attracted to it. It was so different! It is like a large metal sphere resembling a spaceship from a black and white space invaders movie. After gawking at this interplanetary cooling device, I noticed a very well placed Cooler master crest at the top of the cooler. It has been placed in an aluminum plate that holds the three heatpipes to the upper part of the fins.

Looking from the top down, we can see the Cooler Master crest above the three copper heatpipes. You can also see the fanning of the sixty aluminum fins that give the round shape to the cooler. These are sixty fins that continue through the cooler and are fanned out buy round hole punches in the fins.

From the side you can see from the side, the three copper heatpipes have been split up. There are two on one side and only one on the other. These connect at the top under the crest plate and then at the bottom between the copper block and the aluminum fins.

The base has a fairly smooth surface with no noticeable grooving or scratches. The surface has been buffed to a decent shininess. Those that argue that too shiny is a problem, will not have any problems here as it is not shiny enough to have a mirroring effect, but enough to give proper, flat, surface area for cooling.

From this picture, you can see the four pin power lead in the background and the three pin female lead that is used for selecting your fan speeds. Refer to the User’s manual for the proper placing, if any, required for your cooler preference.
