Introduction:
Toshiba has been most known for the computer and telephone technologies. With the progression of the computer market over the years, Toshiba has branched out into LED display systems, drives, motors, surveillance systems, memory and more. The thumb drive has become a must have for any computer based employee with the common reference to it being the 3.5” floppy drive replacement. Toshiba has put its memory production resources now into these devices and is what we will be reviewing today.
Toshiba’s American headquarters are based in New York, NY and is made up of six divisions: Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc. (TAIS), Toshiba America Business Solutions, Inc. (TABS), Toshiba America Medical Systems, Inc. (TAMS), Toshiba America Consumer Products, L.L.C. (TACP), Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC), and finally Toshiba International Corporation (TIC). Toshiba America made a whopping $6.995 Billion in 2005! That is just in America; imagine what their parent company, Toshiba Corporation, brings in per year.
I personally own and prefer Toshiba laptops. My personal machine has lasted five years of abuse from kids, parents, friends and family, and the occasional drop. I have experienced a great history with Toshiba. Let’s see if they can continue that great quality. Geeks.com has provided us with a sample of the Toshiba TransMemory 2gig USB 2.0 thumb drive for review. Let’s stop gabbing and get to the review!
