A Closer Look:
Taking a look at the Cooler Master NotePal P1, you can see that top is all aluminum. The back edge and front edge is brushed aluminum and the center of the cooler has a matt finish. This is very attractive.

On the top of the NotePal, there are two 70mm vents and there is round-hole mesh covering them. To compliment these grills, behind them are two 70mm fans. Bordering around the grills, you see a couple of rings. These are made of a soft and clear rubber compound. This helps hold onto your laptop as it sits on the NotePal in case some of your laptop’s rubber feet are missing or do not quite touch.
Taking a trip around the outside of the NotePal, you can see that there is a very attractive tear drop shape to its profile. This very nice compared to some of the wedge shaped laptop coolers out there. You will also notice that there is a dark plastic base under the aluminum top. This is a medium to dark grey in color and is thick and sturdy. This unit does not flex or feel weak in any way. The NotePal P1 is 13” wide, 6.3” deep and 1.65” tall.

At the back right of the cooler, you will see two USB ports and a chrome plastic power button. The USB ports are used for powering the unit’s two 70mm fans. This ultimately takes up one of your laptop’s valuable USB slots, but the included second port nullifies this. The power button is sturdy and well built. There is a matching chrome dome at the back left of the NotePal, but it does not act as a power button.
Turning the NotePal P1 on its back, you will see a number of vents directly under the included 70mm fans as well as along the entire back side of the unit. These give the NotePal fresh cooler air to push up onto the underside of your hot laptop.

There are a number of rubber feet on this cooler; two feet at the front two corners and three along the back curve of the unit. I found that the rubber feet along the back had a habit of falling off, but after a little bit of lint cleanup and reapplication, the feet were as good as new.

Between the two fans is a storage compartment. This is used to house your USB patch cable during transportation or non-use. I found the clip of the door to be just the right stiffness and had no problems opening or closing the door. The included USB cable does barely fit though and you will have to make sure the two USB connectors are at the furthest back where it is the deepest.
