Results and Conclusion:
For testing, we ran our system through Sandra's burn-in wizard for a loop of fifty times along side of Fold@Home. We ran all three fan speed selections through these tests. The results are listed in the order of the pins that were selected with the integrated jumper header. FYI: Pins 1 and 2 is Performance Mode, pins 2 and 3 is Silent Mode and with jumpers open, you are in PWM Mode. During testing the ambient temperature was a constant twenty one degrees Celsius.
With idle temperatures matching the recently Noctua NH-U12F at twenty nine degrees Celsius, the Cooler Master Eclipse cooler is a real contender. While the Eclipse can not match the consistency of the Noctua, there was only a four degree difference in the CPU's temperature during load. This is usually more than acceptable by many computer users. While the Eclipse can almost keep up with the Noctua cooler, it does beat it in the system cooling side. The motherboard temperature of the Noctua was at thirty seven degrees at its low point and forty one degrees at its highest. The Cooler Master Eclipse cooler ran the motherboard at thirty six degrees at its lowest and forty degrees at its highest temperature. Though not much of a margin, the Eclipse's hood proves it's worth and with the right setup, the hood could perhaps show a large margin.
Over all, Cooler Master has not let us down with its latest product release. The Eclipse cooler has all the makings of a great cooler with the ability to impress in any case window. I am still calling out to Cooler Master to correct its centering issues with these coolers as this is a very crucial step in assuring proper cooling of the customer's CPU. The shape of the cooler has a very interesting appeal to it, but the functionality with surrounding components presents a problem on some motherboards. I would assume a simple revision to place the fan directly above the CPU instead of offset would correct this problem. Over all this product is a great product and would be a great purchase to any buyer that has researched compatibility of their motherboard. Our thanks goes out to Cooler Master for this Eclipse sample for review!
