A Closer Look - NT05:
Taking a close look at the SilverStone Nitrogen NT05 heat sink, you can see that it is fairly compact and simple. A square shrouded heat sink and fan; thats it. This cooler actually incorporates 63 aluminum fins and 43 copper fins attached to a copper base and with three copper heat pipes. As you can see, this cooler can very easily fit within any sockets bracket confines. There should be absolutely no horizontally based clearance issues with the NT05 cooler.

At the top of the cooler, the Nitrogen and Silverstone Logos are easily displayed in chrome lettering. At the back of the cooler, you can see the aluminum fins have a channel cut into them. According to the specs of the cooler, these maximize the coolers cooling capacity. You can also get a view of the copper fins that are located at the bottom of the cooler attached to the copper base.

Flipping the NT05 cooler upside down, you can get a pretty good glance at the mounting brackets and copper base. The factory installed brackets have a number of screws and springs. These are all easily removable to allow swapping out with AM2 mounting hardware. As usual, there is a sticker protecting the copper surface and you will need to remove it before mounting to your processor.

Taking the warning label off of the bases face, you can see that the SilverStone cooler has a very smooth finish with an almost mirror finish.

The included 70mm fan features a black chassis with white fan blades and hub. I really like this combination. The offset color is very attractive. The fan is also a standard 25mm deep so no special ear plugs required, we hope. This fan is actually manufactured by Young Lin Tech Co., Ltd. and is model #DFC702512H. According to Young Lins website, this fan runs on 12 volts at 0.40 amps. This fan is rated at 4.8 watts and spins at 3800 rpm, pushing 39.84 CFM at 37.1 dB(a). According to the specs from SilverStone, the fan runs up to 4800 rpm. This means that they are over-volting the fan with the included rheostat.
