Crucial had no real huge surprises up their sleeves here; just another example of a great product from a great company. These memory modules were submitted to both Sandra and Everest burn-in and stability tests for 24hours straight and have not even had a hiccup! The modules during this testing barely became warm to the touch. This partially due to the many fans in the iStarUSA server chassis in which the system was housed. I would like to have seen some kind of heat spreader but on many server motherboards, the DIMM slots are either jammed next to each other or at an angle for 1U server rack-mount chassis so this, on top of their cool running temperatures, is understandable. Memory times could be improved as the latency was still a bit high but these numbers in turn equate out to enhanced reliability.
These server memory sticks are no beauty queen by any means as compared to the Crucial Anniversary Edition and Ballistix series, but these do not need to look good. They will be hidden in a dark server box with no windows, LED fans or cold cathodes. Working with these modules for the last couple weeks has been a pleasure with no surprises nor hassles. The Crucial server memory modules take anything thrown in their direction, chew them up and spit them back out for server crunching goodness! These modules are totally KICKASS and 3dGameMan.com is proud to have them digesting database queries and compilation tasks in our new server! Our special thanks goes out to Crucial for their review samples and their continued and loyal support of 3dGameMan.com and its community!
