Introduction:
OCZ has been a consistent innovator in enthusiast memory modules over the last seven years. They started out in late 2000 with a clear focus to build the highest speed memory modules for enthusiasts, by enthusiasts. Here is what their site says about their focus on memory:
“Entering the memory market in August 2000, OCZ Technology was built around the determination to manufacture the best high speed DDR and RDRAM. OCZ was founded by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, and our commitment to the end-user has not digressed. OCZ Technology has been an innovator in many areas. We were the first manufacturer to make Dual Channel optimized memory available to the public, which originally took advantage of nVidia's Twinbank or Dual DDR architecture, found in their nForce chipset. We have now taken that technology and tailored it for the Canterwood, and Granite Bay chipset's. OCZ developed and was the first to implement ULN technology, which has been a critical element in our manufacturing process for some time. We at OCZ diligently work to improve communication with CPU and motherboard chipset manufacturers prior to the release of their products. Only in this manner can we fine-tune our memory's SPD settings, ensuring a synergistic relationship between the memory module, memory controller, and microprocessor. In today’s rapidly evolving semiconductor industry, such communication is not simply research, but a necessary component of our manufacturing process.” ~OCZTechnology.com
Though OCZ has mostly been known for their memory modules, they have also had a number of great CPU coolers over the years. Today we look at their latest cooling effort focused on cooling any DDR or DDR2 modules. OCZ Technologies has sent us a sample of their OCZ XTC Memory Cooler and this is what they have to say about it:
“OCZ Technology, an innovator in high performance memory, makes cooling and enhancing your memory easier than ever. Expanding on OCZ’s proprietary XTC (Xtreme Thermal Convection) heatspreader technology, the new XTC Cooler air-cools your modules, improving memory performance, stability, and longevity to allow enthusiasts to tweak their memory more freely due to superior active cooling.
The XTC Cooler attaches to your motherboard's DIMM socket retention levers. While the fans cool your system memory, glowing LED fans illuminate your memory subsystem.” ~OCZTechnology.com
