An Even Closer Look: Looking at the cooler from the front, you can see that it is just a hair taller than the include 60mm fans. This creates a small pocket of air between the ventilation holes and the fan blades. This helps in reducing fan blade noise. From the side, you can see that there is only a single screw hole. This is for the included normal or thumb screws to mount the brackets to the cooler. ![]() ![]()
With the cooler on its back, you can see the exposed 60mm blue LED fans. These fans both connect on one long fan lead. Directly out of the package, this header is tucked up in the fan’s chassis and you will need to pull it out. ![]()
The 60mm fans included in the OCZ XTC cooler are mounted by only two screws each. Upon removal of the fans, you find that there are two different length screws being used. Note that the shorter screws are used above where the fans’ wires meet together and thus need for more room underneath the screws. ![]() ![]()
With the fans removed, you can see that they are made from a clear plastic and have a thin profile. The fan header used to connect the fans is also made from a clear casing with aluminum wire. The two fans have been joined together by a crimp style connection covered by a clear sleeve. I found this connection to be strong and did not come apart with any moderate tugging. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() You may have noticed four little arms extending out from the center hubs in the fans. These are actually PCB LEDs that extend out and turn on during operation. These are very bright and require very little wattage to operate. I would preferred to have seen these included in the our chassis of the fans like most LED fans, but with the low RPMs of these fans I do not see these causing much impact on noise levels. ![]() ![]()
From these pictures, you can see just how bright and attractive these LED fans are! ![]()
