Sound Card:
Another crucial part of a gaming rig is the quality of sound. For that you need an excellent sound card. This means something other than your onboard audio. There are a couple of important factors when choosing a sound card. It should have 24-bit audio technology, be capable with 5.1 or 7.1-channel audio, and be EAX compatible. Creative Labs has always led the pack in this department. They have introduced key technologies like Environmental Audio Extension (EAX) that other sound cards emulate. Another important item to be sure your sound card has is an optical out (Sony/Philips Digital Interface Format  (S/PDIF)). This will allow the best quality sound to get from your sound card to your audio system. Most new 5.1/7.1 speakers system, amplifiers and receivers have an optical port.
