At the time of this review, the only LCD panel I had readily available was my aging Toshiba laptop. This laptop has a 14.1” standard ratio screen. You can clearly see the 19” dominance over the laptop. If you are looking for a docking station monitor for your smaller laptop, this would be a very cost effective way of going about that.

With the W19E LCD monitor plugged into the Toshiba laptop, you can see the difference in brightness, even with the lights on. With the lights off, you can really see the power of the 300 nit brightness and 700:1 contrast ratio advertised with the W19E panel.

The viewing angle on the HP W19E screen has a fairly decent range though the specifications only present 150 degrees horizontally and 130 degrees vertically. I found the viewing angle to be acceptable from almost any angle I approached the panel and have no qualms with it.

With the W19E panel at all black, you can just barely see the saturation from the cathode lights. Some consider this horrendous but while watching multiple DVDs and playing multiple games, I never even noticed this, even when trying to watch for it.

Up close, I tried my best to get the camera to focus in on the pixels. Below you can see that there were no phase problems. Very crisp and clear!
