Packaging and Hard Drive:

As mentioned before, this external drive comes in two pieces as it simply two products that Geeks has put together for a good deal. The included hard drive is the Seagate 7200.9 series hard drive with capacity sitting at 500gig. This drive came in standard OEM fashion, a brown box with just the drive inside.

The Seagate drive comes in a standard OEM anti-static baggy with warranty seal. The drive removed is factory fresh… well refurb-esh… ok, so not such a funny joke but I tried.

The drive has been relabeled with a Seagate Certified Repaired label. This means that your five year warranty is bub-bye. This drive when run through the Warranty Status checker on Seagate’s website showed this drive still covered under warranty but only through October 25th, 2007. That means we have a whole half a year warranty! Now, you obviously have to realize you have a refurbished hard drive, thus the cheap price, so no point ding-ing here.

On the bottom of the drive, well, there really isn’t much to see. On the back of the drive, you find your standard SATA power and data jacks. You also have the four pins available for the SATA1 jumper, but this jumper was not included.
