A Closer Look: The CoolIT PCI Cooling Booster comes with an all aluminum body that is bent into a hood shape. The top of the unit displays the CoolIT Systems standard stamped fan grill. I don’t really know where this logo came from or what it represents, but it does a sufficient job being a fan blade guard. ![]() ![]() ![]() From the back, you can see the fan is made completely of clear plastic. Also you can see the thumb screw mounting system. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() From the bottom, you will find that the fan is has a CoolIT Label on the hub, with nothing hidden underneath. I was unable to find any details on this fan. Here is a close up of the double-stacked thumbscrew mounting design. ![]() ![]() ![]() Once again, CoolIT Systems has decided to go with a two wire design with these fans. This means you cannot monitor the fan’s rotations per minute. We would like to have seen the third speed monitoring wire available. You can see from the next picture that the fan header is not too long. It’s pretty short actually. This should be able to reach any fan header located around the CPU or last PCI slot, but I cannot guarantee that it will reach with anything in the way. ![]()
The included 80mm fan on the PCI Cooling Booster is lit up with a couple PCB LEDs contained within the hub of the fan. These are fairly bright and have a nice blue hue to them. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |
