A Closer Look:

Taking a look from the top down, we can see that the card is fairly simple in layout. The GeCube cooler covers most of the red PCB and sucks in air through its blower fan and pushes it out over the capacitors at the back of the card. This method of air circulation, in my opinion, is not really the most effective as it blows hot air back into the case and just recycles that warm air back into the graphics card. This is where the double slot coolers come into play. They suck air through the cooler and out the back of the case. Many times a small form factor case or customer installation will not allow for a double slot cooler and this is really the only option.

Look around the sides of the x1905Pro, you will two DVI and video out ports located on the back plate. On the bottom and top of the card, you can see that everything is very compact and nothing protrudes from the card. At the back of the card you can see just how much direct airflow covers the card’s capacitors. You will also find the six pin power connector.

At the top of the PCB are two interfaces that are used in creating a dual GPU CrossFire setup. This allows for enhanced game play as two brains are always better than one. If you were paying attention to the included items with the GeCube x1950Pro, you will have noticed the absence of a CrossFire ribbon. This is very unfortunate as this will require the consumer to go purchase separate ribbons as an additional cost. I would assume that GeCube figured that consumers would not be placing these cards in a CrossFire configuration.

The cooler’s fan is comprised of eleven plastic fins and the hub decorated with the “Graphics by ATI” sticker. The copper base is surrounded by a clear plastic shroud that is adorned with Ruby, ATI’s pretty girl Ruby. The cooler is completely made of copper and utilizes many fanned copper fins.
