A Closer Look:


The installation manual for the Logisys Dual Heatpipe VGA cooler is actually the packaging backing but does fold out to multiple pages of instructions and pictures. The instructions are fairly straight forward and easy to follow. Also included with the cooling system is a low profile 80mm fan. This fan has no real model number or specific markings. The fan has a black housing with a vibrant red hub and nine fans. This fan comes with a four pin (two pins missing) Molex power header and does not have a pass-through so it will eat up a power lead on the PSU unless an adapter is used.



The Logisys cooling system comes with two GPU blocks. One block is longer than the other to facilitate today’s newer GPU chipsets. The shorter blocks are used for older video cards like the old school GeForce video card Logisys uses in their instructions.



The bases of the blocks are pretty smooth and the anodized aluminum does not hold back the shinny finish, though you can still see the grooves from sanding. Back up on top, there are two arms which are held on by screws and when loosened allow for easy placement on the GPU block.



The Logisys VGA cooling system utilizes heatpipe technology that wraps around the back of the video card. To accomplish this, Logisys includes two back plates that match the width and height of the GPU blocks. They are no where near as thick but they allow the connection of the heat pipes at the back of the video card.



The GPU is not the only one to get cooling from the Logisys system. Included are a total of eight memory heatsinks. There are four tall profile heatsinks and four low profile heatsinks. The instructions refer to these be “Front” and “Back” modules for the video card, but with most newer video cards, you will find that you will be placing both sets on the front of the video card.



The main bulk of the cooling system is in the front and back cooling plates. These are what the dual heatpipes transfer heat from and to respectfully. There are many rows of grooves and fins to aid in the addition of extra cooling surface. Both plates feature two holes to which get screws through them to secure them to the GPU block and back plate.



The two heatpipes are nice and shinny for all those with windowed cases. You can see in the picture that the rounded bends where done quite well and there is no kinking. At one end of the heatpipe, there is a flat cap. At the other end of the pipe, you find a soldered shut opening. This is where Logisys places the heat conductive fluid into the heatpipes. Included with this cooling system are three copper based thermal grease pouches. At first you would think this was excessive, but as we get deeper into the review, you will see that these are just not enough.
