What happened to real life discipline?
All I can say is that my kids know I can take their computer off-line and lock it (and their ability to log in) by remote, anywhere, using my cell phone. There is a certain degree of respect I get from that.
This guy's son was a 27 year old. Are you going to lock their computer when they are 27?

If they are living in my house, on my dime, and not seeking work? You betcha!
After high school I expect them to work at least part time and do some college. I'm not saying I'd kick my kids out of the house, but I'll make it hard on them to smooch extra nesting time.
This guy has a great philosophy on raising kids. Pay for their education and then let them create their own fortune or else they'll never make it for themselves.
