Another problem is the retention rate of this forum now. This forum now caters a lot more to new builders or those entering the computer scene. As soon as they get their information out of the members here, they leave. This is the last thing any site owner wants for traffic. And the more and more I visit, the more I see sub-forums, threads, and videos catering to new members.
If there was a least some focus on old memebers, then we'd have updated post counts and a more refined forum layout, among other requested changes. After all, who would want to join a forum where people generally leave after ~0-20 posts and where there is almost no activity of more senior members. Tivon is doing a great job holding the ruins of what was once a great forum on his back, but he can't do it alone. And unless this forum has any interest in investing into longer time members, then I don't see a bright future for 3GM.
The non-admin 3GM members aren't the only ones seeing the negatives of the move to this new site, but they are the only ones willing to cough it out.

I havent been here exactly since a while and to tell you the truth it has to do with the site. It does not bring me back like it used to.
But I really come back for the amigos I have here. Cause I know we really go back.
Regarding the site, I really don't know what to say anymore.
exactly my thought...
Zach is talking about implementing a few features soon such as the Control Panel and possible Private Messaging.
Site speed for anybody? Some issues have been found with the polls that were causing the site to run slow for authenticated users. We temporarily removed the most recent poll block from the right column until we can remedy the rouge queries. Once we did that, all pages (including login) take less than 2secs to load. Please let me know of your speed changes. Thanks :)
It's about a 2 second load for me when clicking on forums, subjects, etc.
What apart of the world are you in?

This issue should be resolved.
The main page and forum is snappy. Not sure about the rest just yet. ![]()
FireFox issues these days make their own problems that I need to figure out.

My thoughts and experience with this forum is the same way as yours. I would also like to see this forum be more focused toward senior members of the forum, including members who have contributed. One example is with avatars that are longer in width. I've contributed myself to Rodney back during 2006 as soon as I join the forum.
Flagged you as a Contributing Member, but there is no new features yet.
ZZZzzz ZZZzzzzzzz... -.-
Forum is so inactive, huh?
as compared to the old forum, here theres only about 10 updates a day, on the old forum there was about 10 updates every 2 hours
for a remake of this size, thats not bad. maybe you should let go of the old forum, and focus on the new one instead. Its pretty comfortable right now. 3dGameMan should focus on new users, and not how to keep old ones happy.
Users who are very familiar with the old forum could be hurt/offended by your statement, so you might want to be careful what you said unless you add "no offense to old users of the forum."
It is just something to keep in mind as I respect those who are very loyal to this website.
Can't sleep now, so i though I'd comment. I totally agrees with GraysonPeddie. I've been hear for more than 2 years. Please have just a modicum of respect to the senior members. I may not post as often as I used to, but I do stop by almost every day.
I do respect the old members of the original forum, I am suggesting that maybe remarks like the one made by dustyschaffner aren't really helpful. I just don't see the good in criticizing Rodney.
Old forum gone not a question of maybe keep. Old members and new members we want to keep. Not enough time in the day to make everyone happy though. Oh peep!
Ya things are getting there but veryyyyyyyy slowly.
Three big things I think are annoying most old users.
1. CAPTCHA-Why I am I still filling in the anti-spam box when I have over 400 posts on this forum? Anyone over 100 should have it disabled.
2. Smiley faces/animations lacking.
3. Post count from old forum still not imported for many. It is not a functional thing but many users would like to have their street-cred back.
Lately I have not seen anything changing so I am mildly depressed but we have come a long way.
Elemex-If no one complains or stands up-nothing changes
You should not see any CAPTCHA.. where do you see this? We have had issues of CAPTCHA popping up in the Polls. Refresh and it should go away.
Let me do a test to see if posting a link triggers a spam filter.
Link test: http://www.3dgameman.com
Well, it seems like the administrators have done away with CAPTCHA for normal users of the forum.
Usually whenever I put a link in a post it asks for CAPTCHA in the hardware forums.
Don't know about here

Edit: No CAPTCHA here
what are you testing for?

no reason to single me out man, i was just clearing it up for the guy that asked the question, to me it sounds like ur making me the bad guy, im not the only person saying what i said and i was only explaining what the difference was to the guy above me
Water under the bridge..
Hey, how do I get into my user control panel if there's no buttons for this?
you go to 3dgameman.com/user
found another problem
in threads with more then one pages of comments there are small numbers below the last comment. When you hover over them they become a lighter color, but if you hover a bit to the side, only about a third of the button has changed color and the link doesn't work.
This new theme is horrid... You cant see any text.. Quotes dont properly display and none of the links at the top like forums, support 3GM and the others are there...
