Borderlands 2 and a 660 TI

Hey,
I just got myself a MSI GTX 660 TI and it comes with the Borderlands 2 code. I was just wondering if anybody knows if it's a steam activation code? If it is, should I activate it before borderlands 2 actually releases or should I do it after?

Borderlands 2 is a Steamworks game so regardless of where you get the game, you must activate it on Steam. It doesn't matter when you activate the code. Even if you are able to activate the game before it is actually released, Steam will not allow you to download it until the release date. There are occasions however, when Steam allows pre-downloads so you can get into the game as soon as it is indeed released.
