whats a better graphics card an amd 5850 or an 6870 for better gaming?

6870 for the most part, preforms better, less heat, second-gen, similar price.

6870 kinda replaces the 5850. I think you can see it as a "revised" 5850: They are about the same, but from the 6870 you get more efficiency, a bit more performance and much better crossfire scaling, but still it takes the same spot in both price and performance.

6870 is slightly better for gaming and uses alot less power.
