My damn cards fan got stuck and overheated. never registered so no warranty. Looking at new cards and wodering which to get. gtx 285 or is the gtx 295 worth the extra money. MB is  790i ultra so i dont really want a ati card even thought the 5850 is cheeper and better than 285. i play on a 27" monitor at 1900x1080. what do you guys think.

I think you should wait till the gtx 480/470 which are gonna be beasts-March 26 btw if for no other reason than to drive down prices of old cards

thanks for the response but i dont think ill need one of those. for one they are going to be way to expensive. two i dont see them lowering the prices on the 285 or 295 while the 480 is going to be so they say around 700 dollars. Three i dont really want to wait till the end of the month to have my gaming rig workingand probably longer due to the short supply of them. i am kinda torn due to direct x 11.And i only game at a resolution of  1900x 1080. im just trying to figure out which one i want to get now and probably sli in the near future. Is dx11 supposed to be that awesome for me to even worry about?

dose it still work or is it completly screwd. when i say that i mean the card its self not the fan.

Just wait for the pricing to be announced. The 470 will probably meet your needs and may be affordable.

Ya im definetly with mimart-We are 12 days away from a brand new line of cards-You could probably jury rig a fan for now as long as the card itself works. The 470 is definetly not going to be ~700 +DX11 is the future. DX11 is not that great RIGHT NOW buy in 6 months-1 year more games will utalize it+quality will go up.

well i suppose you talked me into it. guess ill wait for the 470 anyone have any specs on this card yet. Dam what am i supposed to play for 2 weeks on a 128 bit x300

Just tape a normal 80mm case fan to the side of your graphics card and as long as the fan is the problem then ure good

its not the fan thats the problem. my card got to hot and wont even post my pc anymore. the fans work now after i cleaned them but it was to late fried the chip im sure.
