I'm doing some shopping for someone, for a car GPS, I know little to nothing about car GPS

So, I'd be grateful if a few people could suggest a couple of GPS to look at,

Also if someone could tell me some specs or any kind if info about a GPS I wanna look for when shopping for one, that'd be nice too.

Thanks!

As for brands, I've heard that Tomtom is the best to look at.

TomTom and Garmin come to mind, anything with lifetime map updates should be a good bet. The rest would be up to you in terms of the feature set.

Yeah, I figured that bit out browsing, I think TomTom looks better but it seems reviews say that Garmin tends to be more correct most often then TomTom's GPS's Though Garmin's seem to brake down faster or randomly freeze until they do die, so right now TomToms 350 XL LTM GPS seems to be our best bet.

When I worked as DirecTV technician, I used a TomTom, they're commonly referred to as some of the best GPS systems. Most of my co-workers used TomTom's as well, we were on the road about 10+ hours a day and never got lost, can't be too bad haha..

Navman is also a good brand. We have the Navman MY55 and it has never failed us...

Get a new Nokia (N8, E7, something like that) You get really good sat nav free forever.

Tom tom and those other things are stupid because you have to play for the map updates.

We ended up getting the Tomtom 1435 or 1535, I can't remember but heh, all we had to do is go to a link and download the update manager, that's it, didn't have to register the product, nothing, I was surprise to see it find the street my house is on, its kind of out of the way sort of, I already updated its maps and what not, haven't had to actually use it yet but some time in the future we might be moving somewhere that'll take us a few days by car to get to so, hopefully it'll help us out heh.

The one we got, was the only GPS that had free life time every thing AND... Bluetooth, under $200 bucks, it was 169.99 if I remember right.

Thanks for all the info though guys!
