I'm going to do a new build soon, so I'm buying parts I can use now first, But, I've heard that the HD5000 series cards will not work with nforsce chipset motherboards.
I will be buying an XFX HD5870, will I be able to use it?
I currently have an MSI nForce4 chipset motherboard.

My Rig|CPU- i7 950@3.08ghz|CPU Cooler- Coolermaster v8|Motherboard- EVGA X58 SLI3|RAM- G.skill Trident 6gb 2000mhz|GPU- XFX HD5870|Case- HAF 932 Black Edition|PSU- Coolermaster Silent Pro 1000W

they will work - but its not going to be what you are expecting.
the best option would be to change the entire system (if you are thinking of a MOBO\CPU upgrade, you really should upgrade your RAM aswell and then make sure there is no bottleneck from the HDDs, and if there is you should swap them etc etc.)
save that headache, keep the current system for web use or maybe sell it and get an all new rig.

check out this spec sheet for ideas - http://img718.imageshack.us/f/specsheetdjneta.png/

Hope this helps.

My current rig is old, I'd maybe get 300 for it.
and I have my new build planned out already.
