Hi
Im building a new rig an need some suggestions and recommendations.
*Core™ i7-3770T Processor(8M Cache, up to 3.70 GHz)
*GeForce GTX 690
*motherboard?
*hard drives?
*ram?
*case?
*fans?
*coolers?
*Powersupply ?
budget is unlimited but i don't want to spend to much on the motherboard and hard drives.
Cpu cooler: Corsair H100
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
Hard Drives: somekind of SSD could be a OCZ Vertex 4 SSD 128 GB and a 2-3tb Storage HDD Western digital
Ram: 2x4GB Corsair Vengeance
Case: your own choice
Fans: Depends on case
PowerSupply: Corsair AX850 80PLUS Gold
mobo: p8z77 deluxe
cooler: h100
ssd: 2 Kingston hyper x 3k 512gb in raid
ram: corsair vengence 8gb
psu: corsair ax 750/850
and if you dont feel like building a computer i recommend the Vesta I1 from ncix
PSU: anything of a great manufacturer with decent wattage (850 or more) and 80 plus bronze or better is decent. I can recommend you the Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000w (really silent and really good voltage regulation cause i have some spike in current here because my PC and my air conditioner is on the same power bar and when it starts the light comes down for a second or two and the pc continue to work with no trouble and i don't have an UPS)
CPU cooler Corsair h100 is really good... i suggest the Noctua NHu12P or the NFP14. both are air but really good (i have the nhu12p se2 and the temp never go to 60 just 57-58C and my chip is highly overclocked (Q6600 Vcore 1.55V and VTT 1.4V @ 4.05ghz)
Mobo: pick a good chipset not the entry level one, they suc***... i'd suggest the ASUS P8Z77 V pro
HDD: anything 7200RPM with a SSD for the windows drive will be really good (i really suggest you to buy 1 ssd because the response of your system will be greatly improved over just a HDD. OCZ have VERTEX and AGILITY that are affordable and Crucial have the M4 at really great price too)
RAM: anything 8gb @ 1600mhz or more is ok for now but i suggest to buy 2 bigger stick over 4 smaller sticks to have the possibility of upgrade later on the 2 other slot
CASE: choose the one you want ;) in the 100-150$ range there is a lot of decent ones
Fans: will depend on the case but Noctua have really silent one and they work really well, they comes with Low noise adapter to even lower the sound (nfp12 for me is 22db at max so anything below that is pretty imposible, i can't even hear the fan so...) anyway i think the GTX690 will be more annoying than any fan in there so i'd suggest to pick an aftermarket one like the ASUS DirectCU model they're really silent...
preliminary hearing...
CPU:Intel® Core™ i7-3960X Processor Extreme Edition(15M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 690
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
CPU cooler: Noctua NHu12P
Hard drives: Intel® Solid-State for OS and ....?
Ram: Vengeance® — 8GB Dual Channel DDR3 Memory Kit (CMZ8GX3M2A1866C9) the right ones?
case? need alot of cooling...
fans? need alot of cooling...
Powersupply: Silent Pro Gold 1000W
OS: Win 7x64
Your Comments Are Appreciated :O)
the 3960x is a socket 2011 so this mobo isn't compatible... you should go with the X79 sabertooth: http://ca.asus.com/en/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_2011/SABERTOOTH_X79/
or with the top LGA1155 : I7 3770K and the Z77 sabertooth...
For the HDD, i'd suggest Western digital caviar black
For case, there's a lot of manufacturer to fit this rig but i can't choose for you, it will depend on your style, if you want a window, lighting, etc... but you should look for ANTEC, CORSAIR, LIAN LI, FRACTAL DESIGN, SILVERSTONE, COOLER MASTER, INWIN, NZXT, THERMALTAKE and ZALMAN to name a few of really good builder...
PS: if you go with the 3960X it's support quad channel so it have 8 dimm slots... you can pair a quad channel memory kit instead of a dual-channel kit...
if budget in unlimited then go with two ocz vertex 4 512gb in raid and go with a corsair 650d
also go for a 3930k unless your going do A LOT of overclocking with insane water cooling, the 3960x is basically a highly binned 3930k
for x79 buy a 16gb kit for each side
i would go with this config
CPU: i7 3630k
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 690
Motherboard: z79 ASUS SABERTOOTH
CPU cooler: H100
ssd: two vertex 4 512gb \ two intel 520 512gb in raid
Ram: Vengeance® 16GB 4x4
case: corsair 650d
Power supply: corsair ax 850w
OS: Win 7 ultimate x64
preliminary...
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770K Processor(8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 690/680
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
CPU cooler: Noctua NHu12P
Hard drives: Intel SSD-X25-M-80GB for OS and Western digital caviar black
Ram: CORSAIR CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9(XMP) 16GB ( 4x 4GB )9-9-9-24
case? need alot of cooling...
fans? need alot of cooling...
Powersupply: Cooler Master Silent Pro Gold 1000W
OS: Win 7 ultimate x64
struggling a bit to find the top of the line matching parts.. :/
I do not intend to overclock, the chipset and turboboost do the job for me. No need to play engineer...
Last time i tried the cpu or mb bendt and gave me some strange mem readings.. :/
Your Comments Are Appreciated :O)
Yeah overclocking is really a try and try again it may take 2-3 weeks to achieve the goal you want... anyway, with this processor, you'll be good for a few years and later you may initiate yourself in the overclocking challenge ;) and yeah this is the good mobo :D but with this system, you're back to dual channel memory so the quad kit unless you want to fill all slot is useless
PS: this build is something i'll consider this autumn to change my q6600 so i think you have all the quality and performance for years to come ;)
3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7 Extreme Processor is not out yet..
i would go for the 500r or 650d from corsair
preliminary...(budget is unlimited)
CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3770K Processor(8M Cache, up to 3.90 GHz)
Graphics card: EVGA GeForce GTX 690/680
Motherboard: ASUS SABERTOOTH Z77
CPU cooler: Noctua NHu12P
Hard drives: OCZ RevoDrive PCI-Express SSD 110GB and 2 1TB WD Caviar Black
Ram: CORSAIR CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9(XMP) 16GB ( 4x 4GB )9-9-9-24
Case: Obsidian Series® 800D Full-Tower Case
fans? need alot of cooling...
Keyboard and mouse: Illuminated.. nice ones!
Monitor: 2500x1600 Resolution (No need to break the bank for a fresh spring look!)
Powersupply:Antec HCP-1000 Platinum 1000W
OS: Win 7 ultimate x64

The revodrive is a little... overrated, i don't think you'll see any difference except in benchmark so to save money i would go with larger SSD in raid cause 2 in raid0 is about the same speed also it will save you PCI-e for GPU ;) cause it need a 4x not a 1x (so in general you have to plug it in a 16x line unless your mobo have a dedicated 4x)
For the monitor, the only model with that resolution i know about is the "Dell Ultrasharp U3011 30"
for keyboard and mice, i'd suggest logitech G510 or G19 and for mice, i personnaly use a Cooler Master sentinel advance and really nothing to say bad about it !! (also had a razer mamba and really like it but did to change at 1 year intervall (2 times on warranty) the 2 had failed under the 2 year of warranty and a battery too so i just change brand cause i think it's pricy too only use it 1-2 year and i have a logitech MX revolution and a microsoft sidewinder on my other PC for years (7-8 for the MX with the original battery that take about a day to die and 4-5 years for the sidewinder) and i never had trouble with them...
PS: had a G11 from logitech and it's always in work on my home server (had it with my p4 478 pin so in 2001-2002) and my G510 for 2-3 years now... the g11 also drink some beer, cola and oil in my garage and it's ok on all key... My Cooler Master storm sentinel advance have about 1.5 years of service and to this date never had a problem (it's a phillips twin laser sensor so you may research about this cause it's not tracking on any surface like the microsoft bluetrack that work on glass, etc but at my eyes it seems really more accurate than a bluetrack on a mouse mat...)

go with a vertex 4 or a intel 520 ssd
also the h100 would be better suited for the 650d\800d
preliminary...(budget is unlimited)

Need a gaming table and char, gotta spend some on that tooo.. ;)
tables i would go with ikea their tables arent like others (in a good way) others are small, cramped and have little platforms on the side that can barely hold a m-atx case. ikea's are large and simple.

http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S19852113/#/S69806816
for fans go with cougar or noctua
i would also op for a ax1200 psu
another thing would be to go for a 1tb caviar black for mass storage
I have placed an order but ill have to wait 4 weeks for that graphics card..damnit :/
(i even tried to bribe them, but it didn't help)
ikea here i come :O)
Thank you for your comments and suggestions :O)
that's nothing, keep us updated about your new rig ;)
i would suggest the Thermaltake Water 2.0 Extreme over the H100 for a cpu cooler. Case is all personal preference. If you want Full Tower i would say CM Storm Trooper/Stryker or the Nzxt Switch 810.
i already purchased this setup :)
only one problem.. heat!
even the monitor gives off a lot of heat, but its a realy nice monitor :)
need some more fans i guess.
The GTX 690 is a beast, 120 fps i battlefield...
