I am planning on building a pc in a few months. I have a budget of $2000ish. Im not sure whether to get the amd phenom ii x6 1090t and the radeon 5870, or get the amd phenom ii x4 and the 5970. I am going to be doing a ton of gaming on it, but also a fair amount of video editing. So basically, are the extra 2 cores on the 1090t worth choosing a 5870 over the sexy behemoth known as the 5970?
(also included in that 2000 is the monitor, keyboard, mouse, mousepad, headset)
Nope not worth it-the x6 SUX at gaming. A good AMD 955BE or an i7 if you live near a microcenter is the better choice.
i would go with a phenom 955 BE
one of my buddies had me write down a gaming system based on the 955 and its medium/high end but low cost, right at $1,030 USD but it has a 5770.
the specs are:
AMD Phenom II x4 955 BE
MSI 790XT-G45 motherboard
Noctua NH-U12P cooler
Corsair DDR2 4x1GB 800MHz latency 4 ram
ASUS Xonar PCIe x1 sound card
Coolar Master HAF-932 case
WD Caviar Black 500GB
Corsair 650w 80+ PSU
XFX 5770 HD-577A-ZNFC
im sure you could change a coupe things and still be able to keep it under $2,000
