so i received 2 4gb ripjaw series ram for xmas this year, so i need to upgrade my pos mobo and might aswell get an x6 (amd)
but i only have enough money to buy the mobo and processor rght now, and my psu is rated at 530 watts and newegg sugests 555W. would i be ok for a couple of weeks, the only reason i want to get it all now is because i dont have a test system for the ram and i dont want to have to rma them after it is too late. after my next pay check aka 2 weeks i would buy a 80 plus gold 1000W probably KINGWIN LZG-1000 GOLD 1000W so i can upgrade worry free later.
my set up would be
Phenom II X6 1090T Black Edition
ASUS Crosshair IV Formula AM3 AMD 890FX
2X Ripjaws Series 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 1600
X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Pro
Radeon HD 4870 512MB
Western Digital Caviar Green 1tb
Seagate Barracuda 320 gb
KWorld ATSC/Analog TV Card ATSC 120 (if i can fit it and prob wont put it in to be safe for now)
i also have a audio dj 8 for traktor plugged into my monitors usb, so idk where that draws power from
also if you guys have any suggestions to that set up let me know. the gfx is just gonna be that for now aswell as my soundcard hds and ram lol so just processor/mobo i guess. BTW i would be using this rig for gaming at 1920 X 1200 and intensive video editing
so for long post, but im really bored because i broke my humerus and am at the hospital tonight
You don't need a 1000Watt PSU.
CORSAIR CMPSU-850TX 850W ATX12V 2.2 / EPS12V 2.91 SLI Ready CrossFire Ready Active PFC

i dont need one but this would be my second psu upgrade, i want something 80 plus gold and im considering a crossfirex setup in the future no matter how much the psu is i wont be able to get it for another 2 weeks will i bee safe with that hardware with low usage till then
http://www.antec.outervision.com/PSUEngine this said i only need 437 so im feeling pretty confident, i also might do water cooling in the future so i def want i high prof psu
No rush I guess, if it works then you save money. What CPU do you have right now?

athlon 64 x2 i think it is the 6400 i know it is @ 2.4 ghz
do yolnow how much it might be worth lol
The 2.4GHz is probably the 4600. It's a little old, so I'm not sure on the price. Less than $100.
use the power supply calculator on newegg's website lolz
i did that but this other one is way more indepth
You should be ok for now. I ran a similar cpu with 2 5670's on a 550 watt for a while. Also, unless your going to have more than 2 gpus in the future, you will never need more than 850 watts.
i got everything in and it all seems good, but the strangest thing is that in dxdiag it is saying i have 2296mb on my 4870, but i know it is only 512, does that have anything to do with the formula iv or what
It is just allocating some of your ram but not actively using it so nothing to think twice about.
also can being underpowered cause crashes(blue screen crashes) cause i got a few when starting up a bunch of strenuous tasks at once
