Well, I'm off, but will be checking in later to answer additional questions. Remember, this thread is closed on Feb. 5th, so get your question in before then or post it in the main part of the forum: http://www.3dgameman.com/forum
BTW, it's nice to see new people here and I hope to get to know some of you a little better. It's hard on other social sites to do this, so that's why I prefer you come here. So a big welcome to all the new forum members :)
from what i know the giveaways aren't open to europe for shiping isues. things tend to disapear and so on. at least that's what i understood up until now.
another question:
how do you feel about the rapid evolution in tech in the last years? a few years ago it was easy to decide on what you wanted/needed to buy and it would have been good for a few years. now... every few months/half year, better stuff pops up, the old stuff gets left behind. how long will this high speed evolution last?
edit: sry for being picky and pointing this out but it said 5 feb 2011 in the first post :p first time I read it I thought it was an older thread

and by the war have you ride an Honda CBR 600 RR?
Hi Rodney,
So what do you think of the Windows phones that are out and up and coming? You think you might make the switch? Seems live every review I read gives this phone a lot of praise.
Do you think AMD needs to change there architecture of there CPU and when do you think they will (becuses I'm thinking when DDR4 ram comes out)? They kept to the same socket for how many years now? I mean I can see why they do this it reduce cost and make it more marketable but in turn it makes there CPUs less efficient.

In fact right now on my current set up it bottle necks my ram that's rate to be at the time fastest DDR3 ram you can buy (been about year now it's G.skill 2133 4X4GB). when I bought the ram I knew it would be bottle necked but not so harshly. I thought I would get at least 1800 out of them but as it turns out more ram slots you use it ramps it down (found that out after looking around.). I did play around in bios to get the voltage right but my test program (speccy) say nothing changed on the voltage and yes it saved in the bios. So guess that CPU has something to do with it and the way it handles data.
Guess I will post my set up hear too.
Operating System
MS Windows 7 Ultimate 64

Hey Rodney, what would you consider to be your perfect pc case, what features would it have, how big would it be mini, mid, full etc, color so on and so forth, oh and how much do you think it should sell for?
DDayDark I also use a AMD Phenom 1100T but with a Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 motherboard. Your ram is running at 803mhz? I bought some G.Skill Sniper ram 1866mhz (2 sticks of 4 gigs) and it booted up to 1600mhz on the first boot. I then overclocked it to 2000mhz without changing anything but the bus speed to overclock the ram. I've read that if i use all four ram slots with the 1100T it will boot up a 1333mhz. I have my bus speed set at 250mhz, so if I use four sticks I should at least be able to get back to around 1666mhz with maybe a few minor voltage adjustments. Either something in your bios isn't adjusted right or maybe you should get a 990 series motherboard. It's not the memory controller on your 1100T.

I did tweak the setting and I saved and exit the bio and this is what it dose to me and the program I use to check the volts says differently. I put it at 1.65 as it should be and the program says it's still running at 1.5 so go back and check and the bios still said 1.65
The full spec of the ram. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231452
but if you can guild me into making sure I'm setting up my bios right I could look at what it's running it now and write down and see if you can help.
Hey Rodney Whats The Best Z68 Motherboard For Gaming That Can Be Overclock And Not Too Pricey That You Can Recommend To Me
@DDarkDay Isn't there a place in your bios that lets you manually (not auto) set your memory clock? Mine is like this
Memory clock x4.00
x5.33
x6.66
x8.00
Of course you need to set it to the highest setting. G.Skill recommends that you set your cpu-nb voltage to +0.1V when using four sticks of ram. You can go as high as 1.3V if you want.
Your cpu frequency(mhz) in your bios is your bus speed. It should be set to 200 at stock speeds. The higher you raise it the faster your ram will run also. I have mine set at 250 but your motherboard may not be able to get that high. Hopefully your bios isn't to different than mine.
Can I do a RAID array across different SATA revisions? For example, could I do a RAID 1 with a one SATA II drive and one SATA III drive?
How do you think the Hard Drive shortage caused by the Thailand floods affect computers in the short and long term? Specifically, how will this affect the progress of SSD's and Cloud Computing?
If I were to upgrade to a gtx 580 3gb(or gtx 780 on release) and use my current gtx 460 728mb for physx, would the big difference in vram bottleneck performance? My monitor setup is 2x2560x1440 and 1x1920x1080, usually only use 1 2560x1440 for gaming.
Hi 3dGameMan, I am curious to know what your views are on web anonymity. I know you deal with it a lot from people on you tube. Do you think its something that will last for example? I mean my views on it, if I can say so without rambling too much is that communities are too under policed for me anyway.
I know on communities like facebook web anonymity has given rise to things like the "trolling" fad. People who have set up things like memorial pages if a friend has passed away and then these "trolls" come along and make fun of the person who died and all kinds of disrespectful things. That example was on BBC news btw and the reporter to spoke to one of the people doing it had the answer "well I don't care if it offends people, I just do it for the lulz".
See that example makes me think that web anonymity gives dominance to the lesser spotted sociopath lol.
I know there isn't much that can be done about it, who knows. But anyway what are you opinions on this and maybe you could do a video on this sometime?
I'll be hitting this thread on Monday, so if you have a question/suggestion/comment, now's the time ;)
caspeer_costel,
The rapid evolution of gaming in the past few years is very interesting, but impossible to keep up with. Once you buy a so-called new product, that new product is not old in a month or so. You just have to learn to be happy with your purchase, because there's going to always be something new/better.
PontezZ,
That system looks excellent.
You were asking about the motorcycle I ride. Well I've had a few, but currently riding a Kawasaki 650R (soon to be replaced with a Honda VFR800 ABS) and also have a 2011 Honda CBR250R (wife's) in the stable.
baretoes.am,
The Windows mobile OS seems excellent, but I have no extensive experience with it.
DDayDark,
Hard to no bottleneck completely and there will always be something else faster, but remember, AMD is in the affordable category.
KoutaFG,
The perfect case is one that best fits you needs ;) For most others, most of today's mid-tower cases have all the features you should be looking for in a case. The top features to look for would be ventilation/fans, 2.5" drive bays, cable management, space behind the mobo tray or organized cables, and if you're going water cooling, grommeted holes, space for a rad and other items.
legendkiller01,
Kinda hard to tell you which is best for you that won't break the bank without knowing your hardware setup (single video card, dual...), but I'd recommend 3 brands; Asus, EVGA and Gigabyte.
not_dave,
RAID 1 isn't a fussy as RAID 0, but I'd recommend the same drive spec for it as well.
Tokkemon,
Thankfully, natural disasters that affect distributing and supply of products generally only have a short term affect. That being said, if it's big enough it could bankrupt some of the small-mid size businesses.
gogglor,
Remember, a card for physx will only help with games that use it. I'd personally sell you current card and put towards a 580 or newer 700 series video card.
Phil101,
When governments and large companies (who control governments) get their way, the internet won't be a free place. This will take decades but it's coming. Some countries now have very strict rules and regulations in place with regards to what can be viewed and said online.
Personally, I have so reason to be anonymous, but most online want to be. Let's face it, the things that get said online would never be said face-to-face, or at least not nearly as much. Why? because if they were it would be very dangerous to their heath. Us humans are very funny creatures, full of love and hate and the internet is certainly a place to find both.
