Alright, I am a student. I don't have lots of money to build high-end gaming rigs. I currently have an old rig, which I can still play games on, but on medium or low settings. I'm looking for an upgrade which can enable me to keep on gaming. This is my setup:
AMD Athlon 5000 X2 @ 2.6 (Never overclocked)
2GB DDR2 RAM
HD4650
So, I am thinking, would I be able to play all the latest games if I go for either the 5770 or the 5830 at highest settings? If you have any upgrades to recommend, feel free to post.
What resolution are you playing at? If it's fairly low, a 5770 would be fine.
Add another 2 gigs of RAM into your system (you have 64bit OS right?)
You should really OC that CPU. Try getting a good aftermarket heatsink.
Currently, I am unable to overclock my CPU for two reasons. I don't know how to overclock and I am using an Acer motherboard. Could you please let me know the guide you used to learn how to overclock?
I think adding another 2GB to my current system is a waste of money as I am using DDR2. I might as well change the motherboard and maybe get a (3 X 2) GB DDR3 RAM Kit. For now, I just need a good video card to continue my gaming.
BTW, what's your rig's specs, Razear?
i7 920
6GB DDR3 1866
GTX 295
That's impressing. Where did you get that kind of money?
Saving up for three years, not buying useless things...
im getting amd2 X6 3.2Ghz 8Gb 2000Mhz cl9 ram, ati 5970 . what case woud you recomend ? shoud i go for big tower or middle tower ? thanks
Full tower if you have the money.
Best to get a full tower if you're looking to fit a 5970....
