Like the title said, what is the best way to applied the thermal compound, just drop it on the cpu tray then put the cooler on, or drop then spread it wait till dried then put cooler on, or maybe applied it on the cooler surface then attach to the cpu ?
Apply a small drop the size of a grain of rice in the middle of the CPU's surface. Use a credit card to evenly spread a thin layer across the entire surface. Attach the heatsink on top of the CPU.
