Stock clocks are 2.7GHz and I have been running this speed for about three years. Now winter is rolling around and I have managed to get my hands on a Corsair H50. I'm also moving into a room with a much more consistant temperature. I decided I would finally overclock this thing. I am aiming for 3.0GHz-3.1GHz.
I have a few questions.
Should I bump the base clock or should I do it by the multiplier?
Will I need to overvolt at all?
How much of a performance increase am I looking at?
And I'm going to need a list of software testing programs to test stability and temperature control and links on where to get them.
Any help is appreciated.
