Hi there ok, i spend alot of time at my firends house, we watch alot of stuff, my external hard drive broke and now all i have is my pc.
we used to use the external hard drive to watch stuff on the ps3, when it broke i would burn them to disk and we would watch that way or stream from his pc .
now i have alot more media than him, and its a kiler taking the pc on and off busses, so i was wondering would there be any way to stream the files from my pc to his ps3, over the internet.
we like in different towns, so the distance is a good few miles.
any suggestions would be good.
Sony's answer to that is LocationFree (i think thats exactly what you're looking for). But it's VERY expensive. It's like a slingbox for Sony devices.
If you want to invest a lot of time, you might be able to modify PIMPStreamer to work with a passworded website, which you can then access from the PS3's browser. You will need quite a bit of Upstream from your home internet for streaming to work well.
Another option would be to simply create a VPN and then hook up a computer to the TV, that has access to a shared folder with movies/shows.
