I want to permanently kill wmplayer.exe but it just keeps popping back whenever I try ending the process or ending the process tree in the task manager. It automatically runs upon startup and I don't have Windows Media Player running. wmplayer.exe prevents me from using the "Show What I'm Listening to" plugin in Windows Live Messenger. I've tried Googling for a solution with no luck. Any suggestions?
--SOLVED--
I couldn't find a solution specifically for ending the process permanently but I disabled access to Windows Media Player in the Set Program Access and Defaults area in the control panel. My default media player is iTunes and that's the only one I use anyway.
Have you tried Winamp?
I was never able to get rid of that problem. Installing Windows 7 fixed the issue though.
