After having blown a set of Labtec LCS speakers, I retured them to Future Shop having purchased the extended warranty.. :D
The guy came back with a box of Creative FPS1000 speakers, nevertheless, I was not impressed, but I gladly accepted them, dispite all the complains on Creative's Newsgroups (http://news://news.creative.com/).

Anyways, I took them home, unpacked the box and noticed one thing: Creative goes nuts with packaging! Everything was double wrapped in plastic and all the cords were double twist tied. A little much, but still nice to know your products were quality packed. After taking the 10 minutes to un-wrap everything, I began to set up the speakers. The rear speakers come with stands, but I prefered to use the wall-mounts.

The rear speaker cables are 1 meter longer than the front ones, but still proved to be too short (had the same problem with the labtec's). BUT these speakers aren't wired directly into the woofer like most are, instead they are plugged into the woofer via high quality RCA cables. So i'm going to head to the store and grab some extender cables.
Anyways, back to the review.
Getting everything set up took about 30 minutes, I powered up Windows and tinkered around with settings, and found that this proved to be the best setting while gaming or watching a movie.

One thing I HATE about this set is the rear speakers aren't as powerful as you'd like them to be, and everything is set on a master volume control, so if you want to adjust one speaker, you must adjust them all, but I simple flick of the Front/Rear balance on the Creative mixer fixes all this.
I played some Unreal Tournament in full EAX sound and it sounded wicked! Better than the Labtec's even! Then I watched Saving Private Ryan on PowerDVD (Dolby 5.1 mixed down to 4.1), and it was awesome! I listened to bullet's zing past me way better than the Labtec's could ever do.
Anyways, this is a great entry 4.1 speaker set if your looking for one.. They were $49.99 at Future Shop, and don't let the small speakers baffle you, becuase these suckers can put out! So all in all, the Creative FPS1000 speaker set is a great value for the money , just be sure you have patience and a 4 channel sound card.
