Not really a kit per say but thats what they are trying to do.
I had a ATA66 HD too long the rest of pc was way ahead.

I got a Maxtor 40GB ATA133 HD which was $99 -$30 mail-in $69. Also a ULTRA ATA133 PCI ADAPTER came free too.

The PCI card gives me ATA133 FOR a M.B that only supports ATA100. Also read below.........

"with your existing motherboard, this PCI card enables you to connect up to four additional IDE devices to your system including hard drives, CD-ROMs, tape back-ups, and most other UDMA 133/100/66/33 or ATAPI devices. The "auto-identity" feature provides instant recognition for fast and hassle-free set-up. Advanced CRC error correctionf 4 IDE devices extra to the pc"

Well when its all done and its up a few days I ram some test and notice like in PCmark 2002 the HD test went from 430+ to 840+ now. Things like install/uninstall/rebooting or just booting is alot faster too.The Pc feels stronger, more stable, faster, and even relieable too.

I would say to anyone in my shoes this is worth a try!:KICKASS

I think that the drive is an often overlooked part of a system. A slow drive can keep the fastest CPU waiting for what seems like forever. Remember, HD access time is measured in MILLIseconds, memory access is measured in NANOseconds. The difference is an order of 1000. How long does a minute seem compared to a second? The difference is only an order of 60.

Thanks for your 2-cents worth. Please keep us informed how the drive holds up over the long haul.

On the PCI IDE CONTROLLER card all is just fine
IDE#1 80GB master
IDE#2 40GB master
ALL SMOOTH NO TROUBLES.

I also found out if I have 2 HD I can make on a mirror of the other in case that one crashes I just put the other one in and I'm set to go

I think because when I first put the 2nd HD on it said copy all of the other HD as back up I guess so I did and after it booted up it indeed had 2HD with the same stuff so I un did that but nice to know its there I guess. maybe ill get a 3rd HD just for that LOL I have all the room I need home taught is best

On m.b

IDE master PIONEER 16xdvd40xcdrom
IDE2 master Sony 40x12x48xCDRW/cdrom

I still have 4 slave left to go LOL but all I want is a DVDRW but wait for price to fall down still over $200:coffee
