Problem with HP w2207h LCD monitor

hey guys,

i just got an HP 22" LCD monitor for my computer with HDMI port but i have a probem. it has no DVI cable on the back just VGA and HDMI, now my video card doesnt have an HDMI port its an ATI 9800Pro. so i purchased a HDMI to DVI port but now the problem is that the monitor doesnt recognize the DVI or HDMI and it switches back to VGA. its weird because when i first start my computer it does say HDMI active but then when in windows it just shuts down...i dont get it. can anyone tell me how to fix this problem?

Re: Problem with HP w2207h LCD monitor

i solved the problem, after talking to a couple HP people who didnt know what they were talking about, even in online chat customer service. Best buy people had no clue what i was talking about so i had a feeling that the little converter cable was the problem. so i purchased a 4ft DVI to HDMI cable and that worked like a charm. im now viewing a digital picture
