you can go as fast as you want, and be as crazy as you want....and yes it was quite cold up there at the peak.....the last pic we are about 2700 feet aboave sea level......considering i live about 50 feet aboave sea level, you could notice the air seemed a little thin......the snowmobiles power drops a bit as you get higher also...

yes because they run on petrol, petrol has to burn to generate power, fire relies on oxygen, there's less oxygen up there, so of course it'll be less powerful

oh ya....its a bit of a science re-jetting the machines for different altitudes...but you wouldent do it for a quick trip like this...newer machines come with high altitude compensators that auto re-jet for different altitudes...you realy wouldent have to rejet till 5000 feet or so though..

Its huge here.....half the machines here are powder specials and summits....i have some friends that do some pretty sick things on snowmobiles....its amaizing the verticals you can climb. also, we have no restricted trail systems here like other provinces.....most of the land is govt so its all open, and you can go 100mph all day long if you want...we do have a pretty good trail system getting set up, but its only lightly patroled for impared rideing etc....there are no speed limits on the trails, but its not realy a prob anyway cause the trials are only an in-between to get to the real fun...the back country and the hills.

thats neat, btw do you own a snowmobile? they are so expensive but are cool to own..... You will kill the engine before you can go 100mph up a vertical hill :Holy Crap :Holy Crap

i dont own one myself, i use my dads occasionally (the skandic in the pic aboave) as i dont get out enough to justifie owning my own.
100 mph uphill, ya, think you'd blow something up trying that, but on more level ground no prob...ive been over 100mph lots of times on different machines....my friends silver rx1 in the pic above is good for about 117 mph if you have the groomed trail to do it.....and it will shoot to a 100 faster than anything else ive ridden....but it does have in excess of 145 HP lol...

You're makin' me homesick coolhand.
The nastiest machine I ever rode was an Arctic Cat Thundercat. Three cylinders, 900cc, 142 HP. I rode it on a groomed trail on frozen ocean (Labrador Coast). It wasn't my machine, so I really didn't have the impetus to fully try it out. What I did discover is that it will go from 30 to 80 mph as quickly as you can squeeze the throttle. I'm serious: 30 to 80 takes about a second or so.

Just curious Wazlady, I imagine that most people living in Illinois have no concept of what Newfoundland is or where it is. I'm not trying to put anyone down here, it's just that living in Wisconsin for the past few years, I have found that most people in this region have very little knowledge of Canada's East Coast.
Which is why I'm curious about your statement of always wanting to visit... Do you have any connections to "The Rock" or are you just curious to see what it's like there?
