If i was a teacher would be so strict it wouldn't even be funny! If someone cursed, spit, talked back to the teacher, did not do their homework, was late to class, kissed in the class room, talked in the classroom, put their hands on someone else, picked on someone, annoyed someone, cheated, etc would get 10 pages of homework. If you cursed again you would get 20 pages of homework and so on! Each time you cursed again i would add 10 more pages to the homework. It would be due the next day too. No if, ands, or buts about it.

I'd call multiples of 10 pages worth of homework an extremly stingy form of violence.

About one step away from hitting kids with the meter stick.

And violence has been used to solve some very volitile issues. Look at boxing vs. shooting with guns.

Mencius well you would never get the 10 pages of homework if you didn't curse, spit, talk back to the teacher, not do your homework, late to class, kiss in the classroom, talk in the classroom, put their hands on someone else, pick on someone, annoy someone, cheat, etc.

So its only that person's chose and no one elses.

There are student walk outs, boycotts, harassement, and threatening phone calls, and loads of complaints for teachers like that. They usually have their teaching license striped away for life.

west1055 ok. I actually like teachers like that! The stricter the teacher is the better! Means less problems and i can learn a lot easier in the class. I hope most teachers are like this! Plus a classroom is not a place for someone to curse, spit, talk back to the teacher, not do your homework, late to class, kiss in the classroom, talk in the classroom, put their hands on someone else, pick on someone, annoy someone, cheat, etc.

Its a place to learn and thats it.

How the hell can you have a learning enviroment in a classroom where 'talking in the classroom' is rewarded with 10 pages of crap no one would ever do?

Being a teacher and being a good teacher are 2 entirely different things.

A teacher must interact and allow the students to talk openly in the classroom so that ideas on the subject can be expressed and challenged.

A class where the teach just goes on and on about the subject and doesnt envolve the students is a waste of my time and my brain power.

west1055 sorry i am talking about talking as in when they should not. Asking questions to the teacher is fine. Just not talking to others is not ok. Then it hurts the other people's learning experence. Plus cursing in the classroom should not be accepted either. Thats very bad. Extremely bad. It hurts the other people that are trying to learn and wastes the teacher's time with trying to teach the people who are trying to learn.

Ok maybe I was interpeting your post wrong Sorry. I dont think students should talk back, interept a lecture, unless its question, etc.

Its just been my experience that good teachers are hard to find. They are not that many out there. Take my AP Calc teach in HS for example. He was a real funny, very intelligent guy. A pleasure to know. But he couldnt teach worth a damn. That was a fact. Most of the other 12 students in my class agreed with that. Heres a fact: most teachers you hate are the best ones and well underpaid.

I saw a few eps once. It's kinda hit or miss with that show. Some episodes I cannot turn off while other's drive me to watching the grass grow within seconds.

Personally I'd NEVER be a teacher! The parents have taken to suing them for giving out bad grades! The US schools are even rewriting the history books to remove any potentialy offensive words (like Founding Fathers...aparently the word 'Father' is un-PC), I wonder if it will be blank? Besides you never know who's on anti-depresants (and packing heat). Maybe with a cool flack jacket, something that didn't ruin the fit if my dress shirt (gotta look the part after all) I could do it.

As for the un-friendly PM, unless they give out your address blow 'em off!

Believe me, teaching is a thankless job. How do I know? My Father and most of my family are post graduate teachers. It's a very very difficult job that's extremely stressful, especially high-school teachers.

Any post to us regarding these subjects is always confidential. How this fellow figures that you are a tattling is completely beyond me.

When we recieve a complaint, the first thing we do is check out the thread. If the thread is getting too crazy, it gets Trashed.
