Mow lawns.

There are a select few jobs out there that you can get; however, most states have very strict laws on how many hours and what employers can do with employee's under the age of 16. That makes 15 y.o.'s difficult to hire.

hehe. I've had a nice little yard work job for the past 2 years. 10 bucks an hour and I choose my hours. It's been sweet.

Mowing lawns is a great idea. Who says you can't be your own service? You never know until you ask these people. They might be really dissatisfied with the service they have. But, start small. Do you go to church? Are there any older folks who might appreciate having you relieve them of the chore? Do you have friends at school whose parents might hire you to shame their children into getting off their butts? The church was a good idea. Somebody has to mow the church yard. You might ask. It might be worth it to the deacon who does it to have you do it instead.

Houseman at a motel. You can only work certain hours, but they know that and work with it.

Wash and wax cars.

Offer to teach older people how to use their computer better. (Or at all...) You could check with the local senior citizen centers for this. Fix minor computer problems for them.

The main thing is to think up reasons why you can do something, not reasons why you can't. It doesn't have to be a big thing. Just so long as it brings in some money. It adds up in the end.

Are there any Youth Employment Centres around your area? There are usually tons of part time jobs available during the summer.

Golf course nearby? You could be a caddy or cart driver...

Ice cream bike driver...up here in Canada a company called Dickie Dee has bikes that go from street to street selling ice cream. Do you have something similar in your area?

Sell Newspapers...How about those commercial flyers that are brought door to door?

Check out Wal Mart...

Not just mow lawns, you could do lawn and garden cleanup too.

Hmmm Wal-Mart thats a good idea but i wonder at what age they hire i will call there tomorrow.

I dont go to church.

I called all the ice cream places and none of them are hiring.

I dont know where to go to try to sell newspapers but i would do that if i knew where to sign up.

Caddying well theres somthing i tried already but i just cant do it. My back hurt so much after i did it one summer i went to a chiroprater for a year after that.

Never heard od a Youth Employment Center but i will google it and see if there are any around here.

Also anything with lawn is out of the quesiton you guys dont understand where i live. (rich area) people will not hire me. I tried shovling snow in the winter and i didnt get any jobs because people call plows.

Also whats a houseman at a hotel?

Thanks for the ideas everyone :)

I can answer that one for you.

16

Sorry. It's the work that they need and the issues w/ the laws that keep them from hiring.

I worked for them for several years. Wal-Mart and Sam's Club.

15 is a hard age to start work. I live here in IL also and places can hire 15 year olds, but due to child labor laws you can only work so many hours, and most places don't want to bother with that.

Check with your local park district, see if they have any openings for summer jobs. Or a local camp, maybe they may have openings for counselors. Or check with your school and see if they know of anyplace where you can work for a summer job.

But good idea's all around! To sell newspapers, check with your local newspaper office first. See if they have any routes open.

I know you want computer parts and want a job, but this may be your LAST summer with no job till you retire. Enjoy it! Because once you start working...you never will stop!

Good Luck and let us know what happens!!!:banana

At least you have your life ahead of you. The golf cart idea is great. I did it in my youth.
Now at 46 I find mysef out of a job since Jan.
I spent the last 23 years in embedded engineering, the last 20 years in embedded software area. My last job I was at for 10 years.

Now I am not sure what I will do for money. My future seems to have the word Walmat in it.
