Well In honor of my dads hard work in remodeling the basement, my family figured we can reward him with a new TV to put down there....that we can watch :D

We have a very nice tv in the family room so nothing fancy for downstairs. Sub $1000 and definitly flat screen and Digital is plus. What would you guys say is the best? What do you have?

Thanks :Wink

I've always liked RCA tvs... I've found that they seem to have a very clear, crisp picture.... Sorry I don't have any model numbers - I'm starting to look for one myself...

Also I like the look of Magnavox - they're also a very solid tv in my opinion.

What size are you looking to get?

Mitsubishi makes the best HDTV-Projection Tv's
I've ever seen. Pair it with a Progressive Scan DVD
using Component Video Cables and Fiber Optics for sound...:jawsdown

(Avoid composite and S-video feeds because they are interlaced signals)

Treat yourself to the quality and convenience that have made Mitsubishi famous. This 16:9 set delivers full-blown (1080i) HD display capability and an impressive 480p upconversion system.

$1,599.99 Bestbuy

Aren't those still kind of pricy? I thought they were... I'd be interested in those if they've come down in price enough...

Nice... But he's on a sub-$1000 budget... But that is one heck of a nice TV... :)

Same price would only get a 15" or 17" LCD flat screen..sigh:rolleyes:

The normal TV like HDTV's don't look as good as the one
I've shown above..:cool_shad

Before I did computers... I did TV's..:Wink

IMHO here are you two best bets... http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?b=0&e=11209583&m=1&cat=24&scat=26

And:

http://www.bestbuy.com/detail.asp?b=0&e=11169472&m=1&cat=24&scat=26

Both are sub 1000, both are made by incredibly reputable companies, and both have picture output that'll make you almost cry when you see it, not to mention connectivity options galore, though my personal choice is the Toshiba over the Sony. Enjoy. :Holy Crap

Misubishi's are great TV's! I had a 52' front-projector for several years. I like the size of the one you posted. And the price is not bad for it, either.

I say march down to your local bestbuy, and just pick and choose the one that's most appealing to you.

Sonys have always been wonderful TVs. They are usually a tad more expensive, but man the quality is there...

When my father was alive he repaired Sony TV’s. Those
where awesome for the time, but we would always go
ape over these Mitsubishi's at his bosses brother in laws
show room store. You just don’t see those annoying dots
and they are so crystal clear I wouldn’t recommend any-
thing else. Some of the new HDTV’s under 1000$ I’ve
been looking at just don’t have that detail I’m looking
for when I spend that much money on a TV.
