I listen to brass, aluminum, steel, sometimes iron, magnesium, and a few others. I get looked at funny when I'm walking down the street with a block of metal held to my ear but what do they know?!? This is good stuff.

Yes, they are good along with Styx, Def Leppard, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath and BonJovi for the older stuff, as well as Creed, Treble Charger, and 3 Doors Down for the newer stuff. I remember listening to Supertramp back in Germany. We were just a bunch of seventeen and eighteen year olds partying it up with a huge bonfire at a quarry party, great tunes with almost as much booze as you get in a bar- and it was legal there! Great times in Germany:banana

I like a bit of spineshank, followed by some rage against the machine, sepultura, cool chamber, slip knot, soulfly, marilyn manson, drowning pool, rob zombie, and sometimes a bit of limp bizkit in small amounts only.
I also like the offspring, altho I think they are going down hill slightly at the minute.
red hot chilli peppers are ok as well.
O, and the bloodhound gang before they started making pop songs.
My favourite track by them: "Kiss me where it smells funny" :D
I find myself having the p*ss ripped out of me for liking both metal and dance music tho.
All my metal headed friends threten violence for my sacrilidge.

Does Kid Rock fall under the rap category?
I think Kid Rock gets away with it - like Run DMC and Aerosmith

I prefer to call what I like "heavy rock" instead of Metal, although I like most decent metal too. I really think that most of the metal bands of today fall into the category of "Alt-Metal". Most of it is just tuning the guitars as far down as they can go and banging on a few power chords. I recently saw a concert with Styx (with Gowan), REO Speedwagon, and Journey at one venue. Great show, although the sound could have been better.

True...The guitar solo seems to be dead. :(
I like some of the new "alt-metal" bands, I just wish one of them had the talent to do a damn guitar solo.

I think Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains was the only guy who could "Chug" and Solo in the same song - no chance of them coming back though!

If you are getting old, then I'm getting there with you. Those were some awesome bands, and they made great music... My first cassette tape that I ever bought was Styx's Mr. Roboto... I used to pretend I was the keyboard player - I would sing along and play my Trapper Keeper like a keyboard...
Ah, those days... :)

I kind of feel into the underground punk/hardcore scene when my band got "big" as in local terms. Ive taken a liking to Taking Back Sunday, Thursday (greatest.band.ever), rufio, senses Fail, and Thrice. I could go on but these are more heavier bands that could fall under metal I guess.

I may have to break the Jackson and the Marshall stack back out of retirement and work on remembering how to play it again....neighbors ought to love that.

Good bands:
Taproot
Hatebreed
Deftones ... when Chino is actually sober :)
Mudvayne(they are so so)
Rage Against the Machine
Liquid Gang
Tool
Glassjaw
Sevendust
SOAD
but my favorite band of all time ....... 311
Bands like Good Charlotte, New Found Glory, Saves the Days, etc. need to take theyre Mall Punk somewhere else. I see to many kids runnign around with hats with mesh in the back turned sideways. I swear I am about to start slapping people.
As for Pantera .. not a fan, they were a hair band in the 80's that wore pink spandex and then became like a hardcore redneck band, don't know how that happened.
Only hiphop I can listen to is the Roots, Jurassic 5, and Nas. I need a break every so often from my normal listening material and sometimes I just want something with some soul to it. My dad listens to oldies all the time and they sorta grew on me and Nas and Roots have that sound that feels like a modern version of the golden ones. I suggest all 3 selections highly tho.
Well thats my music/opinions in a nutshell, I have lots more stuff I listen to but I think this reply is long enough.
