Welp, I was browsing through Wilson Farms a few days ago with a friend getting some drinks and sure enough he comes across the non-dairy creamer. It has a warning about being exposed to flames. So we buy it, the big one of coarse. After a few sobes we walk into the feilds. And sure enough didnt return till night time.
Step one. Pour a light film of non dairy powdered creamer.

Usually when Wazman and I go to Barnes and Noble they have a Starbucks cafe in there I get a Cafe Mocha. But at $3.50 for a medium size...it is a tad pricey...but alas..it's a treat to myself when I go:)

But yeah - coffee is an acquired taste. I don't like it either - I have to dump a bunch of sugar in it before I can drink it - but my dad lives on the stuff... He can't be more than 20 feet away from his coffee at any time or he starts to shake...

Well...it is a mixture of methane and some other gases including Sulfur Dioxide which gives it the smell. I actually remember hearing that the average fart doesn't really give off enough methane to do anything spectacular and that most people just end up blowing out the match. :Yea right

Just an FYI. All fine powders being sprinkled or in dust form are flammable. You can do the same thing with flour or corn starch. The finer powder the more it will burn. That's why you dont light matches or smoke in an empty grain silos.

That has got to be the dumbest thing I have ever seen. You guys are lucky you didn't burn yourselves up. :Nope
And like someone else also pointed out, just about any fine powder is flammable. Flour, Corn Starch, Powdered Sugar and Aluminum just to name a few. Yes, I said Aluminum! Most of the time all that is required for a powder to be explosive is for it to be airborne. Once airborne, powders are very explosive!
Hasn't anyone ever heard of a flour mill blowing up? Yes, some times there is so much flour floating around in the air that all it takes is one spark and the whole place will blow sky high! In fact, in most places there are laws stating that it is illegal to smoke or have any open flame within a certain distance from a flour mill. I once worked for a contractor that was installing a catwalk in a flour mill. We had to have the whole place shut down for 3 days (2 days to let any airborne flour settle out of the air and 1 day to do the work) and we had to pull special permits just so we could do a little bit of welding next to the silos. The mill lost thousands of dollars because they had to shut down for 3 days just so we could weld. But it was better than the whole place going up.
Now back to the Aluminum. Yes, when in powder form, aluminum is highly flammable. When it's ignited it gives off a blinding blue flame. The movie industry ignites powdered aluminum on top of tall towers above a set to simulate lighting. It's like having lightning on demand.

when you toss powder in the air like flour and in this case creamer and when you introduce a flame to it.. the little grains there are momentairly spread out but due to gravity it falls and so when you light it one grain can catch on fire due to its ingredients then, what happens is the flame jumps from grain to grain causing big flames like in this case. so basicly the fire jumps from on grain to another super face causing the effect we see also it will jump all the way back to the bottle haha. well thats why you got that big ass flame =p

"Dairy" creamer actually isn't, if you read the ingredients you'
ll find out it's actually a petroleum product
Generally it's not flammable when it is settled in the bottom of the container BUT get the powder floating in air and light it...
I forget the actual physics but the same thing can happen in grain elevators with explosive results
As for the comments about farting... Yes methane is flammable, very much so... burns with a blue flame
I've seen CH4 burning in my line of work as well as seen some ***** practically burning the hairs on his butt many years ago after many wobbly pops:Beer

1. that's all napalm is - gasoline and a gelling agent (in this case, styrofoam)
2. as the others said, most any fine powder will light
and the most embarassing
3. knowing from personal experience, there really is enough methane in a human fart to light up nicely...try it sometime, just beware, it could suck the flame back up into your butthole and kinda half explode, leaving you feeling kinda hurt and a little burny... :Holy Crap

I could get the same feeling from eating too much jalapeno and too much beer... without burning the hairs on my butt
Somehow I doubt if it could get sucked back though... not enough oxygen
If this were the case... a flarestack by a gas well wouldn't work
Think back to the scenes after Iraq blew up the gas wells... the fires don't begin burning until the gas is above the ground
Basic Chemistry Fuel+Oxygen+Ignition = Fire

Who knows how that happens (if it really does)
Still, the same rules must apply
We know there's oxygen, there has to be an ignition source...

Actually I could see it happening since one of the dangers of lighting WD40 or other propellents like hair spray on fire is that it could get sucked into the can and explode. That my friends, is why at least one layer of clothing is required!:lmao
Raedwulf
06-20-2003, 12:21 AM
Unless you have O2 in the mix... it won't burn, I suppose possible if you have O2 in the 'flatulence'
If the heat of the flames got hot enough... perhaps then you might have internal burning, not 'blow back' but just extreme heat affecting the sensitive tissue
Still... I see flare stacks and flame pits, continually fed flammable gas and liquids, the flame doesn't go up (or down as the case may be) the pipe that feeds it, it burns at the outlet
1200 km³ of gas going to flare is an awesome site, it melted the snow in a 30 ft perimeter around the stack... the flames happened at the top of the stack... no where else
The WD40 example won't work... the oil would have no O2 in the can, the heat though... enough would explode the can

hmm. way back in sch when i was fourteen or fifteen, my teacher demonstrated on how flammable flour can be when its finely suspended in air.
1) Get a big tin can (preferably a milk powder tin) with a lid that can be popped off
2) Drill a hole at the base of the tin and run a long fine rubber tubing out of it
3) Attach a funnel to the end of the tubing inside the tin
4) pour flour into the funnel
5) put a long lighted candle standing inside the tin
6) shut the lid and quickly run to the other end of the pipe outside and BLOW hard (with a balloon inflater preferably)
7) boom!
