So I decided to send dell a little email about SD's computer and other dell PC's.
Hi. I was wondering why Dell started to put power supplies at the bottom of the case. To me, a personal who would never buy a dell, that is just stupid. also, the funnel at the back of the case for cooling is also a piece of crap. who the heck in their right mind puts a funnel on the back of the case for cooling the processor? Dell can't make computer well at all. The funnel is lame and the power supplies is just wrong. Why do they do such stupid thing? Thank You For Reading. Please reply.
:lmao I can't wait to see what they say. :lmao

I don't think they'd reply...
Wait, so they put the exhaust for the PS on the bottom so the heat rises and the duct sucks it in to cool the CPU???

They'll probably reply with a:
Thank You for you suggestions...blah blah blah....
Thank You for choosing Dell. (though you don't have a dell, since it's probably an automated answering system)
:lmao :rofl2

Before this gets locked, I posted my problem in their forum regarding their power supplies & they have yet to answer after a week.

It's in the bottom for better stability of the case.

its still a stupid idea. im goin with what jcyc5 said.....heat from the power supply comes up and raises the temp on everything above it making the cpu hotter (duh)

Simple engineering, physics and common sense:
1) Heat rises. The only thing I can think of about the PSU is that maybe it doesn't have an exhaust fan on top, only out the back (after all, it's Dell. They have to save money SOMEWHERE). Otherwise, the PSU is just contributing to the overall instabiity of the system. Way to go DELL!!!
2) If they are, in fact, trying to put the PSU on the bottom for stability, there is a much simpler way to do this:
a) add a small weight to the base, to lower the center of gravity of the case because of the weight of the PSU being up so high.
b) widen the base or install some sort of outrigger system.
-This way, they PSU can vent its heat out the top and keep the system stable, while also keeping the case itself from becoming top-heavy.

They would probably delete it citing the gross amount of grammatical errors.

Who cares?
It doesn't matter. Dell's are not meant of upgrading or modding (except case) by induviduals other than dell. And since dells a e always stable without using very good games @ high quality, who cares.
They probably did that on the low-budget series only...I bet the high quality rigs (5000 bucks) still get deserved attention, because DELL knows, people who but such high quality systems don't care if the computer is not SOOO stable.
But from my point of view...dell already has a good base at the bottom of their cases, so I don't see a point why they should do that for stability issues. Wither to save money (doesn't make sense tho) or what?

I wouldn't slam Dells so badly if I was you
In my business, SCADA, we put computers in a little shed in the back forty some where... enviromental control is non-existent
The computer is expected to run continuously day after day temperatures varying from coolish -10C(well it's relative when it's -40 outside) to above +40C(yes, it does get that hot up here)
Of the units we've put into these places, we've used Dells exclusively unless the customer wants to get their own standard... home-builts will die in less than a year, I've never seen Gateways, I have seen Compaqs, but not running in the most extreme location, they're usally in nice clean control rooms... where the company has the money to provide the nice environment, but good luck adding an expansion board to communicate to a specific PLC/RTU eg. ABKT
I think we still have odd Dell Dimension 486DX100 running OS2 in some of these places

I can say this much, their products are ok for business use out of the box. I would rather buy a Dell than the other guys.
My only complaint is their customer service.
